Voluntary Alliance for Sovereignty is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Your contribution is tax-deductible in the United States. We make grants to grassroots partner organisations in India, through legal channels under India's Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act.

A single contribution to our general fund. The board grants it where the need across our partner network is greatest in that season, whether seed and farming inputs before the monsoon, child nutrition after it, or water work in the dry months.

Predictable monthly support lets our partners plan further out. A seed bank can be restocked in time for sowing, a crèche worker kept on through the lean months, a check dam repaired before the rains.

If you would like your gift to support a particular cause or partner, say so in your note. As US law requires for tax-deductible gifts that support work abroad, the final decision on each grant rests with the VAS board. We will always tell you where your gift went.
Not everyone can give money, and money is not the only thing this work needs.

Many employers match charitable contributions, sometimes one-for-one. We are registering with the major matching-gift platforms. If your employer offers a programme, write to us with the platform name and we will set it up.
We welcome supporters with skills the work needs: translators, photographers and filmmakers willing to travel, attorneys with nonprofit experience, accountants, designers, and people who can help us tell these stories well. Write to us and tell us what you do.
If your travels bring you to India, we can introduce you to one of our partners, from the Himalaya of Ladakh to the farms of Karnataka. The visit is yours to organise; the introductions are easy.
